Wired 4 Success is a youth employment program funded through Service Canada located on the North Shore with two satellite programs located in Squamish and Powell River. Youth attend for 15 weeks and are paid a training allowance at minimum wage based on a thirty-hour week. While attending the program youth spend the first 4 weeks in the classroom, the next 4 weeks at a job placement, return for 1 week, another 4-week job placement and then return for the final two weeks at our location. The goal at the end of the program is to have the youth working, returning to school or a combination of both. The objectives of the program are to help youth overcome barriers to employment and develop a broad range of skills and knowledge to access employment opportunities with private sector employers.
While attending the program youth learn many skills that assist them in gaining employment along with life skills related to employment and independence. Youth receive their Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) and Basic First Aid certification along with some capacity to offer individual skills enhancement such as forklift operation, food safe or other related certification needed as a condition of employment.
Referrals to the program are through Work B.C. or an Aboriginal Employment Agency
